Midway's Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series, revealed on his twitter page today some previously unseen artwork that could have made it into a game in the NBA Jam series (above). The Mortal-Kombat-themed court was planned as a hidden easter egg for an unnamed NBA Jam or Hangtime port, but the NBA refused. "The spine held up the backboard," the tweet reads. "The skull was the hoop and the flesh head was the basketball." NBA Jam was a series known for its hidden easter eggs, but the NBA could have been nervous of gaining a higher ESRB rating. Still, it's nice to see what could have been.

Apparently, making the world a better place through obsessively insane videogame playing has become a new trend. And hey, if it's for charity, we're all for it. After a Mario Marathon last week to raise money for the Child's Play charity, this week The Speed Gamers are blasting through Final Fantasy I-XII (excluding the massively multiplayer XI, we're assuming) to benefit Autism treatment, with a goal of raising $20,000 by the end (via Joystiq).
Kojima Calls MGS: Peace Walker an 'MGS5-Class Game'

In a new Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Q&A session with Hideo Kojima released by Konami (via Shacknews), the Metal Gear creator called Peace Walker an "MGS5-class game," explaining that it essentially amounts to an official continuation of the Metal Gear Solid saga.
"This game is an MGS5-class game. I am supervising, designing, producing, directing, and editing this title together with the MGS4 team," Kojima said. "Therefore in that sense, 'METAL GEAR SOLID' has not ended, and the 'METAL GEAR SAGA' continues."
